Tommy Fleming

Since he began to pursue a solo career in 1996, Tommy has become Ireland's premier performing artist.

It has not been an easy road to success for Tommy. Just when things were really starting to take off for him in 1998, he was almost killed when he was involved in a car accident while on a promotional tour near his nativeSligo. Narrowly escaping from a burning car, he was left with a broken neck and a metal brace, putting both his life and career in serious jeopardy. “I spent the first few weeks wondering if I was paralysed and what would become of my singing career,” he says.

However for the talented Irish balladeer, this ordeal only strengthened his will to express himself through music. “It kind of gave me the incentive to fight for my career and fight for what I wanted sometimes I think that it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” he says.

As part of his long road to recovery, Tommy made a decision that even his closest friends or family did not expect. He took six months off and flew toAfrica to work with the aid agency Goal. He was a field operative in war torn and famine strickenSudan.

In commenting about his time inSudan Tommy said “It was the best and possibly worst decision I have ever made. Working with so much death and hardship made me realise who I am and how lucky I am. I don't take things for granted anymore.”

These days Tommy enjoys success on a global scale he had never imagined. With 32 times platinum album sales to his credit, he is also one of the word's most successful recording artists!

It is Tommy's signature unique and powerful voice, combined with his quick-fire Irish wit, that ensure his concerts are both memorable and entertaining.

Liam Neeson said “ that one's a hard act to follow -

I hope he doesn't take up acting”, while Eric Clapton,

commenting on Tommy's voice said, “The best I have

ever heard, bar none.”
