It's now been more than a decade since Gina won the Toyota Star Maker Quest, marking the start of a remarkable career that's taken her to the top of the country music industry in Gina Jeffreys has been one of the most in-demand performers in Australia, both live and on television, appearing at everything from civic receptions to Carols by Candlelight, a string of corporate functions and, of course, all the major country music festivals Australia-wide. Gina's tours are constantly sell-out successes and her fans just can't get enough! International highlights have included performing at Fan Fair in After releasing her first single Slipping Away through BMG, Gina signed a record deal with ABC Music, and released her first single for the label Two Stars Fell in 1993. The song went straight to No.1 and the career of Gina Jeffreys was launched. Her debut album The Flame went platinum, and the following January Gina won the first of her four Golden Guitars for Female Vocalist of the Year. During her time with ABC Country, Gina enjoyed a dream run. She released five albums, each one rocketing to the top of the Country charts, and along the way gathered an impressive collection of five Golden Guitars, five MO Awards for live performance, two APRA Awards, two Victorian Country Music Awards and CMT Video of the Year for Dancin' With Elvis. Gina's albums: The Flame, Up Close, Somebody's Daughter, Christmas Wish, Angel and The Best of Gina Jeffreys have all been smash hits with her loyal band of fans, collecting a steady stream of Gold and Platinum awards. Another passion in Gina's life is the role she plays as Ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation, inspired more than ten years ago by a heart breaking goodbye letter she received from six year old fan and terminal Leukaemia patient Louisa. The little girl had unselfishly left Gina some small gifts in her 'will.' “At the time I was so caught up in chasing fame and trying to sell more records, but she made me look at life in a different way. I feel that Louisa's greatest gift to me was the way she changed my life. I know she has made me a better person” said Gina. In January 2003, Gina and Rod became the proud parents of a baby boy Jackson. Since then Gina has taken some time out away from the limelight to enjoy her new role. ”I was just enjoying every second of the simple things in life, like putting our baby to bed and reading him bed time stories, singing him lullabies. I am so glad I did that. You just can't get those years back” said Gina. But over those past three years, Gina began to slowly start writing and searching for the songs that would truly represent her in this new phase of her career. The influence of her new found love of motherhood, family life and her desire to help others not as fortunate as herself inspired Gina to dig deeper into who we are as human beings and what binds us all together. Finally, this has culminated in her sensational new album 'WALKS OF LIFE'. “While our son Jackson is the reason I stopped music for a while, he is also the reason I started again. My heart has never sung like this before”. This inspiring collection of thoughtful and life affirming songs puts Gina right back where she belongs, behind the microphone and on the stage, delivering the kind of magic that has made her one of Australia's most enduring country music stars. |
