The title of John Williamson’s latest tour could easily describe the man himself – HONEST PEOPLE.
Very few artists have experienced or earned the longevity of such a career as John Williamson. It’s a rare thing, but when you review his albums and songs you can see why. His music has continued to capture this country, its people and events for forty-four years. During this time he has toured continuously and in July 2014, his 50th album, ‘Honest People’ will be released to coincide with the publication of his long-awaited autobiography ‘Hey True Blue’.
During John’s illustrious career, he has almost shunned celebrity, resisting offers to take his music to the international stage, instead preferring to stay true to his passion: Australia and its characters. The ‘Honest People’ tour will showcase new songs like Heatwave, Girt By Sea, Clouds Over Tamworth, Keep Walking, Kings and Queens and many more that again capture real people and real Australia, not forgetting those old favourites that can never be left out of his show.
John’s career is stronger than ever! Not only is he an artist of unbelievable musical poetry but also a man of integrity. He has always stood firm to his own beliefs and his courage of conviction, regardless of the outcome and without regret. There would be no Australian more proud of his country, and his new album and tour highlight these convictions.
John Williamson is, without question, an Australian icon. His voice and sound is as recognisable and important to Australia as the Southern Cross is to the flag. He’s performed at some of Australia’s most historic and nation-stopping events, and to battlers across this vast country. His songs and music are simply for everyone.
